High‐speed high‐voltage solid‐state Marx generator based on SiC MOSFETs

Abstract This paper presents a high‐speed, high‐voltage, solid‐state Marx generator based on silicon carbide MOSFETs. The objective was to develop high‐rate repetitive, short‐pulse, high‐voltage and efficient for medical particle accelerator applications. To achieve this goal, 720 kV forming from 1445 stages designed. Each stage includes several SiC devices in series reach desired voltage speed. Compared the existing generators, proposed is capable of producing shorter pulses with higher voltage. We present experimental results three‐stage prototype 15 at 40 A output 200 nS pulse repetition rate 500 Hz.
